Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and highly effective Ad Operations Specialist to join our team in Boston and lead all advertising operations within our dual publisher-agency model.

This role is ideal for someone who has a genuine passion for ad operations and digital media, and wants to lead all aspects of this practice end-to-end within a fast-paced, integrated media and marketing environment. There is unlimited opportunity for growth as you will help set the advertising and traffic management strategy of the entire organization as well as become an expert in the day-to-day execution of all of our campaigns.

In this function, you will work with the business development, sales planning, integrated marketing, creative, and finance teams, as well as external brand and agency partners to ensure the successful delivery of all digital campaigns running on the Her Campus Media Network. This role reports into the Product Manager and is based in our Boston HQ.


  • Own the implementation of all ad campaigns from start to finish and ensure successful, timely execution according to insertion orders, media plans, and client KPIs

    • Test all ad tags and creatives and ensure requirements will be met ahead of launch, and proactively identify issues that would impact successful delivery

    • Upload and traffic all orders, line items, and creatives in Google Ad Manager, client platforms such as Prisma, or other platforms across the Her Campus Media Network, generating and organizing creative tags when applicable

    • Continuously monitor all live campaigns via weekly internal and/or external reporting, and identify and implement optimizations and prioritization strategies throughout the campaign lifecycle to ensure campaign health

    • Provide IO reconciliation reports to Finance to ensure accurate billing

  • Work closely with business development, planning, and marketing teams in pre-sale process to ensure alignment between client expectations and in-house capabilities, inventory, and best practice

  • Serve as in-house expert and resource overseeing entire ad ops practice; establish best practices around processes and capabilities, and communicate these internally and externally

  • Provide training and exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders as needed to ensure alignment and successful campaign delivery

  • Own and optimize inventory management for placements on, newsletters, native content, and others, updating and training internal teams as needed 

  • Research, pitch, and help implement strategies and tools to improve ad serving, reporting, creative development/management, and general campaign performance metrics (viewability, fraud, conversion, etc.)

  • Contribute to ad hoc projects related to digital media/ad ops and advertising technologies


  • 2-3+ years of experience in digital ad ops at a publisher or ad agency

  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational, project management skills

  • Deadline-driven, process-oriented approach to tasks

  • Analytical, flexible, problem solving, customer-centric mindset

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience with Google Ad Manager, standard/iframe/JS tags, rich media creative formats (VPAID/VAST, HTML5, etc), DMPs, ad targeting, SSPs, and IAB standards
